  - Blender Animation Test -

A small test done in Blender to explore the software. Its lot of fun animating in Blender, especially the keyboard short-cuts and the mysterious pivot point (you will know about it when you start using Blender - either you hate it or love it !). In the process of creating this I explored Animation of Character and Camera, basics of Lighting and Texturing, Audio and Video Editing and found out how cool is this simple but effective software.

The workflow in Blender is completely different when compared to Maya. For people used to Maya, I recommend not to use the Maya interface in Blender but go with its own interface as that gets you close to the root and logical functioning of Blender.

I used Blender's render Engine called 'Cycles' for the output. After rendering, compositing, adding and editing sound effects are also done in Blender, thus exploring the AV Editor, which is one of the many tasks it can handle. In my site, I have also put up the blends for download for anyone interested to study.

If you find the background appealing, I would like to reveal one thing - 'No vertices were harmed in the making of this BG !' its all done in basic shapes and that again iterates - software is just a tool and the story is what drives it and even with simple stuff you can create appeal!

The Ball Rig is done by bender007 and its a pretty good rig to do basic tests. In exploring Blender, I got valuable tips from my animation mentor - Nirmal David and technical support from Sreenivas Alapati, both of whom are Blender Pro's.

Right in time, Sreenivas is about to conduct a 'Blender Meetup'. So, we modified the animation and added few elements to make it a short intro video for the meetup ! That just made this experience even more fun !

I would like to invite all interested in Animation in general and Blender in particular to attend the Meetup. The details of the event are here - BlenderMeetup
